My processes restore the life to your old photographs, slides and negatives. The Economy Service restores color, removes the faded color casts, and removes most (if not all) of the scratches and small specks from your images. The Premium Service goes much further, with hand-balanced color and basic image enhancements, like fixing exposure issues and removing simple spots and scratches. For full photo restoration on badly damaged photos, I’ll need to evaluate your specific images. Please take a look at the samples below to see what I can do for your family’s memories.
Old Precious Photographs
My process ensures the safety of your family photos. I handle your aged, delicate photos with kid gloves. My Economy Service will not damage photo. Regardless, any photos with deteriorating paper, tears, creases or folds are handled separately. I only scan those photos on a high-end glass plate flatbed scanner to ensure that your memories will not be damaged further.
Skydiving Photos – these have serious fading, spotting and a strong orange color cast. My Economy Service did the trick!
Deteriorated 35mm Film Slides
Some slides hold their color better than others. Even when stored properly, most will develop color casts and are subject to fading over time. This is because the colors simply can’t last forever. Some colors degrade faster than others, leaving a color cast, usually red or yellow. My process removes 95% of this unwanted discoloring. I also restore the fading, when possible.
Deteriorated 35mm Film Negatives
Negatives also lose color and are subject to fading. An added issue, as opposed to slides, is that all negatives have an orange mask that is part of the original processing. My process removes this mask, allowing the original colors of your photos to come though. I always handle your irreplaceable negatives with soft, lint-free gloves, and my scanning processes ensure that your films will not be damaged. In every case, I inspect and gently remove and dust or other material from your films before scanning. In some cases, where mold or other residue is present, I clean those films with special film cleaning solvents and PEC pads – cleaning pads that are made specifically for this purpose.
